- What can I put in my sump that eats detritus? - Nano-Reef Community
Well, what about detritus in the part of a sump where you have LR rubble, Ive always had detritus in that part of my sump but im thinking about putting a layer of egg crate high enough to put a MJ900 under it then put the rubble on top of the egg crate so the MJ keep the detritus stirred up instead of it resting on the bottom

- Fine Sand or Aragonite - General Discussion - Nano-Reef Community

- Do you vacuum or stir your sand bed? - Nano-Reef Community
If you have coarse sand you probably should siphon because it will trap detritus like mad (I use fine sand) Also if you do vacuum you should only do very small parts of your sandbed at a time, because as you all know from cycling, denitrifying bacteria will take weeks to recolonize and if you do too much you can get a feedback loop that'll
