I am currently training kickboxing and greco-wrestling for about 2-3 hours a day, mixed with some weightlifting and conditioning type workouts I was wondering, is it necessary and or beneficial to take dextrose or other simple carbohydrates post workout or should I stick to just whey followed by a meal with some type of meat (fish, chicken, etc ) and complex carb (brown rice, etc )?

I drink a whey shake first thing in the morning when I first get up I am inclined to believe that a blood sugar spike would help my protein-starved muscles absorb the whey Is this brah-science or would adding dextrose help?
