UPDATE: okay, the Sea Witch's Cleansing Staff is pretty friggin' awesome! although it doesn't do a ton of damage, the homing orbs make dealing with annoying critters like Silkmaws and especially Bumblers sooo much easier while i do love Imakl's Cleaving Blow (divine three-pronged spear), i think in its place i can just use the Sea Witch Staff and swap to a metal-tipped spear as necessary

Yeah just a deck in the middle and a hull on each side works well for moving fast If you want it bigger just add onto the current deck to the front or back and add 2 more hulls to extend the 2 existing hulls
