You *should* be able to get away with only using One (downstream of the XB7) additional adapter, like goCoax or Actiontec ect if the XB7 is a compliant device I think that the main purpose of the XB7 having this feature is to give field techs an extra tool to get a solid connection into places WiFi isn't practical for whatever reason
