My DD did Zearn last summer and it worked well She wasn't able to take the SMAC course because of summer work and she was able to complete the course in an hour or so a day Zearn students have to take the same test the SMAC students take to test into Algebra 1 and she passed it, so the course did what it was aimed to

In zearn I can assign where the students need to be or what skills they need to work on That’s the whole point of blended learning that it is individualized I have contacted my child’s teacher when it wasn’t challenging and they did Also in my class we use iReady Math and my students love it! It doesn’t work on fluency like zearn does

PP here Not a math expert Just a concerned parent I get rote instruction I went to Catholic school My father is a math professor I had to do every problem in every workbook I’m just expressing my concern that Zearn is not an engaging method to teach kids rote concepts It also doesn’t come with the benefit of learning to write numbers

I was just recently having this conversation with a friend My child is in a private school and they introduce minimal iPad use at some point during kindergarten but it picks up by first or second grade

Zearn is also free and has direct links to every teacher resource in each individual lesson So just click on the grade, module and lesson your kid is on The online stuff is out of date with the materials used at our school

I supplement like crazy so my 4th grader at a HRCS is at least exposed to the full range of the grade level math curriculum
