Title, I cant get it to work what am I doing wrong? This is my Mods folder: I need optifine for a resource pack, I could have sworn it was as simple as putting the jar file into the Mods folder, what am I doing wrong?

For the past hour I have been trying to implement a texture pack thru Optifine into Skyblock I used the second to last Forge version for 1 8 9 because that's the version Optifine would work on Everything started good when I joined the hypixel lobby but when I tried to join Skyblock I could not

I've tried almost every optifine 1 8 9 version that exists (including preview, which works a bit nicer than the other ones), and it still has this issue I've narrowed some stuff down though, turning on VBOs will make the server switching process perfectly smooth, and then suddenly crash after a few games
