SCARCE accepts a variety of items for reuse and recycling as part of our effort to help people and our planet prosper New and gently used books and supplies can be donated by local community members, schools, and organizations looking to reduce waste and give back to students everywhere
- Pumpkin Smash - SCARCE
SCARCE and the cities of Wheaton and Elmhurst hosted the first pumpkin collections in 2014, diverting over 9 31 tons of pumpkins from landfills and helping to improve composting laws in Illinois

SCARCE gives away all of its books and school supplies and, thus, depends on donations to pay the rent, utilities, and staff of the Book Rescue, Tools for Schools, Super Crayon Project, and other rescue programs
- Sustainable Design Challenge - SCARCE
Hosted by SCARCE, the DuPage County Board, and DuPage County Stormwater Management This annual program challenges local high school students to design and construct a building model with adapted Leadership in Energy Environmental Design (LEED) criteria as the guide
