CGI Programming FAQ: HTTP Headers and NPH Scripts - HTML Help Unless you are using NPH, the HTTPD will insert necessary response headers on your behalf, always provided it is configured to do so However, it is conventional for servers to insert the Content-Type header based on a page's filename, and CGI scripts cannot rely on this Hence the usual advice is to print an explicit Content-Type header
Running nph-script. cgi keeps outputting Server details at the end We tried to isolate the bug with a small Perl nph-script and had the same problem Tested on different servers: Apache 2 2 11 on Ubuntu 9 04, Apache 2 2 9 on Debian 5 0 and Apache 2 0 52 on Red Hat EL 4 Script nph-test cgi in regular cgi-bin directory:
Apache: cgi-bin my. cgi was not found on this server I've also added the wsgi handler and gotten the same results with a Python Hello World It too works from the root folder of any site I just can't get it to refer to what I want as the cgi-bin Even if I nest a cgi-bin folder inside CGI-Executables I always get "The requested URL cgi-bin my cgi was not found on this server "
