How long do you let your traps sit before pulling them? This means that the traps have to "soak" longer earlier and later in the year and not so long during the summer and early fall I run 30 traps, it takes me about 20 - 25 minutes to make a full run; by mid-summer I'm just continuously running the traps

Chicken necks are by far the most common bait, and I would say most people prefer fresh, they will stink by the end of the day anyway I use necks in the traps and always start off with new (fresh), the trot line is baited with salted eel and I keep it salted for the summer

Rings -vs- Traps Ring traps are cheaper but if you go with the cotton ones like I do, you will problably want new ones every year as the salt water destroys them I personally think the rings are more enjoyable I do keep a box trap or two around for the littlest one since he needs to take his time pulling it up If you're going with the box traps, go topless
