n. {Compelling}.] [L. compellere, compulsum, to drive
together, to compel, urge; com- pellere to drive: cf. OF.

1. To drive or urge with force, or irresistibly; to force; to
constrain; to oblige; to necessitate, either by physical
or moral force.
