mitosis
n. 有絲分裂,間接核分裂

有絲分裂,間接核分裂

mitosis
n 1: cell division in which the nucleus divides into nuclei
containing the same number of chromosomes

Karyokinesis \Kar"y*o*ki*ne`sis\
(k[a^]r`[i^]*[-o]*k[-i]*n[=e]"s[i^]s), n. [NL., fr. Gr.
ka`ryon a nut, kernel kinei^n to move.]
1. (Biol.) The indirect division of cells in which, prior to
division of the cell protoplasm, complicated changes take
place in the nucleus, attended with movement of the
nuclear fibrils; -- opposed to {karyostenosis}. The
nucleus becomes enlarged and convoluted, and finally the
threads are separated into two groups which ultimately
become disconnected and constitute the daughter nuclei.
Called also {mitosis}. See {Cell development}, under
{Cell}.
[1913 Webster]

2. The changes that occur in the nucleus of a cell,
especially movements of the chromosomes, in the process of
cell division.
[PJC]

Mitosis \Mi*to"sis\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? a thread.] (Biol.)
See {Karyokinesis}.

What is mitosis? Mitosis is a type of cell division in which one cell (the mother) divides to produce two new cells (the daughters) that are genetically identical to itself In the context of the cell cycle, mitosis is the part of the division process in which the DNA of the cell's nucleus is split into two equal sets of chromosomes
  • Mitosis (video) | Cell cycle | Khan Academy
Mitosis, a key part of the cell cycle, involves a series of stages (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase) that facilitate cell division and genetic information transmission
  • Mitosis (article) | Cellular division | Khan Academy
There are two ways cell division can happen in humans and most other animals, called mitosis and meiosis When a cell divides by way of mitosis, it produces two clones of itself, each with the same number of chromosomes When a cell divides by way of meiosis, it produces four cells, called gametes
  • Phases of the cell cycle (article) | Khan Academy
Mitosis takes place in four stages: prophase (sometimes divided into early prophase and prometaphase), metaphase, anaphase, and telophase You can learn more about these stages in the video on mitosis

  • The cell cycle and mitosis review (article) | Khan Academy
Mitosis (the M phase) The process of mitosis, or cell division, is also known as the M phase This is where the cell divides its previously-copied DNA and cytoplasm to make two new, identical daughter cells Mitosis consists of four basic phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase
  • The cell cycle and mitosis (article) | Khan Academy
Mitosis is the division of the cell’s genetic material Mitosis is broken up into multiple stages, with the later stages overlapping with cytokinesis Cytokinesis is the division of the cell’s cytoplasm
  • Meiosis | Cell division | Biology (article) | Khan Academy
The goal of mitosis is to produce daughter cells that are genetically identical to their mothers, with not a single chromosome more or less Meiosis, on the other hand, is used for just one purpose in the human body: the production of gametes —sex cells, or sperm and eggs
