strekken, G. strecken, OHG. strecchen, Sw. str[aum]cka, Dan.
straekke; cf. AS. straeck, strec, strong, violent, G. strack
straight; of uncertain origin, perhaps akin to E. strong. Cf.
{Straight}.]
